All Day Crop

What a great time we had at our 2nd All Day Crop! We were able to fill the last few spots we had left and we had a packed house! The Make 'n Takes went great thanks to our vendors, Stampin' Up, Creative Memories, Tweety Jill, Close to My Heart, and Sheila and Barbara at our Glimmer Mist make 'n take (thank you ladies).

Food from Marchellos seemed to be a big hit and I literally have a half a pan of the baked ziti in my fridge and my mom has the other half, guess we're all having baked ziti for dinner the next few nights. Although, I do not mind, it was wonderful! A special thanks to Merilyn for helping set up and serve the food, she is the best! Also, a special thanks to Bonnie for her delicious carrot cake and use of her chocolate cake recipe. I have been asked to post her recipe on the Blog and will do so this week.

We hope to make this a regular thing so look for our next Crop in the spring! I hope you all had a great time and be sure to sign up for some of our other crops at the store, check http://www.scraporium.com/ for dates.

Here are some photos from the crop:

We were trying to hold on to summer as long as possible with our daisy themed crop :)

This is what my dining room table looked like for over a week, trying to make all those journals and daisy pens.

Our cute little goody bags. Thanks to Sue, Barbara, and Merilyn for helping assemble them. Those were definitely a team effort.

NEW Glimmer Mist is FINALLY here!

Since we were completely wiped out at the CHA show, everyone has been asking when we are getting Glimmer Mist back in. They have finally arrived and we stocked our shelf full with more than 60 colors!!! This includes their new Halloween line and Fall line, plus a really fun Marshmallow color. PLUS we received more screens and new Halloween Bingo Cards. We are just waiting on the Halloween screens that will come later, but we have plenty to keep you busy for now.

Here's a sample I put together today to show you how fun their new colors are:

The new Bingo cards painted with Haunted Shadow, Jack O' Lantern, and Raven and misted with Irridescent Gold and Gold

A fun card misted with Haunted Shadows, Jack O' Lantern, Raven, and Irredescent Gold using a Bingo Card title, a chipboard frame, new Reminisce stickers, and Glimmer misted ribbon (yes you can Glimmer Mist ribbon and it holds color fantastically!)

Sand Fun

This was so much fun to play with. We just got a shipment of this brand new sand product with the adhesive already in the jar so you basically just spread it on your project like icing and it dries in an hour or so. I made this chipboard album with the sand and Imaginisce paper but the sand also comes in fun colors too and only $5.00 for a jar. You have to come in and see for yourself.

New Stuff

We have been getting deliveries every day this week and here is just a sample of some of the new stuff we ordered at CHA:

TONS of new Sugartree travel paper and this isn't even all of it, you'll just have to come visit us to see the rest :)

New My Little Shoebox, very cute paper and great letters too.

These photos do not do it justice, you need to come in to appreciate this cute new line.

.......And this is what it looked like in the back of the store when I came in today and this was after she had put away lots of new stuff

Fancy Pants Class

We've had Madison from Fancy Pants (formerly with My Mind's Eye) come over from Utah to teach classes in our store a couple of times and it has always been a huge success. An entire layout is made during his class and he loves to give away samples and prizes. Now with our new classroom, he is dying to come back to Tampa and teach again. We ordered their entire new line at CHA and are now trying to set up a weekend for him to come in October demonstrating his new line, including Halloween and Christmas, with a great page layout, product samples, and lots of fun.

Let us know if you would be interested in taking his class in October, if there is enough interest, we'd love to book his flight. Leave a comment here if you are interested or e-mail denise@scraporium.com

Java Crop & Shop - Friday, August 15th 5:00pm - 12:00am

I have some exciting news:

This month's Friday Night Java Crop will be held in the north unit next door to the shop. Brandon Home Theater moved out and we have a lovely space next to us that is unused, what a perfect cropping room! This will be our preview to the new space so it may still be a work in progress but will provide LOTS of space for our croppers and we can add more croppers! For a typical Friday night, our crop would be full but with our new Crop Room, we can add more croppers so call soon to sign up!

And don't forget, you can still shop until midnight if you can't stay to crop!

Call 813-269-7946 or e-mail denise@scraporium.com to sign up

CHA was a Hit!

Well it was a very long week at CHA in Orlando! We started Monday at the Creative Imaginations and SEI sneak peek event where we were introduced to new products and lots of fun make 'n takes. Tuesday continued the fun with the first day of CHA. This was my first visit to CHA and I heard it was on the small side but there seemed to be plenty to see and do.

So my job at CHA was to run around doing Make'n Takes and watching product demos and then reporting back to the boss (Denise) who was busy herself running around ordering. We had a full day and accomplished lots of ordering from companies like Fancy Pants, Creative Imaginations, Tattered Angels, SEI, We R Memory Keepers, Prima Flowers, Clear Scraps, Crafter's Workshop, Reminisce, Flair, Heart of Texas, My Little Shoebox, Sugar Tree, and Making Memories, just to name a few. Look for our CHA Showcase event in September where we'll be showing off all the new products.

With a successful day behind us, we headed back to the shop where the real work began. Wednesday we spent the day loading the truck with tons of product to sell at the CHA Supershow. This was followed by setup day on Thursday. Imagine setting up thousands of products on a 10x30 booth for hours and hours in a large convention center with no AC while 6 months pregnant. Yep that was my day, tons of fun! A huge huge thanks to Bonnie and Sheila who helped set up the entire time, despite the uncomfortable working conditions.

With the booth ready and the biggest line I've ever seen outside the convention center doors, we were ready for the next couple of days. The show brought in more people than I could ever imagine. We were a little upset that our booth was moved to the back corner of the convention at the last minute but it turned out we had the perfect location. While our side of the show was always crowded, we had an empty booth right in front of us that gave us the extra room for our never ending line, it was perfect! The day ended with four exhausted workers, tons of sold product, and an almost empty shelf of Glimmer Mist. First day = success!

Saturday brought even more people and everyone seemed to be having a great time. We spent the entire day running two registers and there was not a free minute with no line. I never had a chance to even walk around and see the rest of the show but I heard good response from all the customers. I can't even believe how much 20 cent paper we sold in one day. It was a great day but I was ready for it to be over. My feet swelled to unhuman proportions, yuck!

I have to say thanks again to Bonnie and Sheila who helped out so much! They were such great Glimmer Mist make 'n take instructors and we could not have survived the weekend without them. Thanks so much, ladies, you are amazing!

Ok, I am sure you are sick of my blabbing, here are some photos:

This was my favorite of the day by Quick Quotes and we'll probably be doing this project in the store since it was such a hit at the show :)
